IoT Technology in Environmental Monitoring and Protection

Currently, IoT technology is playing an increasingly important role in environmental monitoring and security protection. Since IOT technology is based on various access technologies such as wireless communication technology, sensor network technology and radio frequency identification technology, it can interconnect a large amount of data and electronic devices in the environment to form a large-scale virtual network, and apply it to industrial environmental monitoring and protection, without the need to install monitoring detectors on the pipeline and then collect information to the node control center through physical lines as before, thus The cost of physical lines can be greatly saved. Therefore, IOT plays a very important role in industrial automation, daily life, environmental monitoring, military, medical and other fields.
IoT System
In order to meet the application requirements of factory environment monitoring and safety protection, most IOT systems are designed into at least two layers: wireless sensor network acquisition layer and application layer information management platform.
1. Wireless sensor network acquisition layer
A collaborative sensing transmission mechanism based on group discussion and security authentication is needed. Through empirical analysis and simulation results, it can effectively improve the accuracy of sensor network monitoring and warning, reduce disaster false alarms, and also prevent nodes from malicious intrusion, thus reducing losses.
2. Application layer information integration management platform
The main function is to complete the storage of sensor network collection data, analysis and disaster warning tasks, and to provide plant environmental managers with macro monitoring and management of environmental monitoring network status.

The synergy of IoT and monitoring equipment
The combination of IOT and monitoring equipment can realize real-time monitoring of various key indicators in the industrial production process. For example, enterprises can install wireless sensor devices at the exit of heavy pollutants, which can not only monitor pollutant emissions in real time, but also close the outfall remotely to prevent sudden environmental pollution accidents; it can also adjust the relevant control in the production process by feeding back the parameters of the control system to effectively reduce pollutant emissions. For example, Formosa Plastics Liuching has collaborated with the Environmental Protection Agency. Collaboration to monitor organic pollutant emissions online in real-time.
