I'm wondering if the quality of your data source may have something to do with the error. Do you have tools to examine the datafile for errant characters like carriage return, line feeds, spaces, indents. I'm thinking these might impact processing.
I'm recalling an old unix command dos2text I use to use to remove crud when windows notepad touched a text file.
I'm not sure of what error code data formatting generates so I may be sending you to left field where very few balls are hit.
