Hi Everyone, The holiday season just gets better and better...
I would like to take this opportunity to make a shout-out to Vishay Precision group and in particular Richard who has personally created an excellent Christmas gift for me
I have been working with Vishay or more precisely they have been helping me with my Power Supply Project by sponsoring me through providing various types of resistors needed to make the project a success
Namely the following
Numerous Powertron Current Sense power resistors of sub ohm value perfect for the measurement of a power supply current load, a Power Meter Sensing or a DC Load feedback, see VPG - Powertron
A wide selection of Precision divider Resistors
And finally to top it all, a Beautiful Resistance Standard, custom made for me by Richard at Vishay Precision Group and arrived just in time for Christmas, what a wonderful gift, my original ask was simply to be provided with a selection of quality precision resistors so that I could make a standard of my own to use in my lab, and use it in my tutorial videos to show how armed with great products you can maintain and spot check your instruments without having to invest in expensive lab equipment or have to use precision temperature controlled environments. Once I explained to Richard what I was about and my plans, Richard and Vishay offered to create the box for me, WOW, how could I refuse.
The resistors in this standard are ultra high precision, hermetically sealed, and almost zero temperature co-efficient at 0.005% standard accuracy and if that in itself is not enough, the standard has been precision measured to 7 digits of accuracy, all the included resistors are 4 terminal Kelvin connected, ranging from 1ohm to 1Mohm, see more here http://www.vishaypg.com/docs/63003/vhp100.pdf
This is what I was presented with (Not the Pen ) and it was delivered in a fully padded instrumentation carry case.
Now I feel really special and am armed with more precision than I can currently measure, here is the cal readings of the unit
And the best thing is, this wont drift, is virtually immune to temperature variations and will last a life time as long as I dont abuse it
So I will be including this resistance Standard in a future video on precision measurements (We will have a look inside too ) , current sensing using kelvin Connections and to cap it off precision op amp circuits using precision divider networks, all using the resistors from Vishay and available through E14, Farnel or Newark
Richard, If you see this, Thank you so much, I hope you have a great holiday, I know I am already.
