TG3D Studio Body Scanner measures your body for clothing

I can see this being how clothes are designed and made in the future. But, will we be able to leave home for extended periods of time? Anyway... fashion fanatics won’t have to worry about wearing clothes that aren’t perfectly fitted anymore. TG3D Studio, a startup company behind Virtual Try-On by Scanatic for Fashion, has unveiled its new changing room body scanner that takes measurements so you can get an exact fitting for your desired clothing at the store. It also uses a scanning app, either a 3rd party app or CloudZet for the iPad or Andriod, that allows customers to choose their preferences, which is all collected and stored on the user's smartphone and isn’t saved on TG3D’s servers. It also uses artificial intelligence SaaS services to make it easier to carry out tasks.

The Scanatic 360 Body Scanner is the first self-service 3D body scanner in the world that offers high precision and accuracy when it comes to body measurements. It only takes three seconds to gather the data of millions of 3D points on the surface of the body, effectively mapping it out when it’s complete.

By using the Cloudzet app, users will be able to operate the scanner when they step inside it. After 30 seconds have passed from scan completion, the algorithm, known as the Scanatic Body Service, processes the data it collected (up to 4.5 million data points) into over 150 sets of body measurements and a 3D body profile. Users will be able to see the results on their smartphone via the Cloudzet app.

The Cloudzet App also gives step-by-step instructions to users, helping them through the entire 3D body scan process. It will then show the user their 3D body avatar on-screen and will give them clothing recommendations, as long as the retailer or tailor is subscribed to the Scanatic SizeRec Service.

The user's avatar is created through the Scanatic LiveAvatar Service that allows it to move around freely as it’s being displayed on the screen. The software eliminates any webbing that can be seen around blind corners of 3D bodies, identifies the joints, and gives it a skeletal hierarchy to the avatar. This allows the avatar to change its posture and move around more realistically.

The scanners aren’t meant to be used for consumers, either. For now, however, TG3D Studio says the scanners will be used by fashion companies, designers, or even tailors of the future. These scanners are more likely to make an appearance in-store a few years from now.

Also, I've been wanting to try something like this with a Raspberry Pi. Might as well try, nothing but time these days.
