Small project Hardware Screws ?

o.thornwall
o.thornwall over 4 years ago

Hello,

I'm in need of some very small hardware screws for a project I'm involved with.

But I can't seem to find them anyway ? Is there a site that sells a variety of very small screws and

fasteners for small projects ?

These are small course thread, sheet metal type screws.

Thank you, OT.

Always a good idea to say where you are on E14 - I'm in UK so my advice may not work for you. For speed try Amazon - fine for home/prototype use. https://www.amazon.co.uk/FandWay-Phillips-Rounded-Tapping…

McMaster carr claims they  don't carry any screws of this size.

This size screws are popular in electronics. They must exist somewhere ?

Anybody  have any idea where to find them. ?

yes they show a universal kit, but I"m also interested in accurately identifying this exact type and size. That's what no one seems to be able to tell me.

The type of set that michaelkellett mentions looks good, I might buy a set too. If you're creating a new project, you can specify any screw that meets the requirements surely?

If you're looking to replace a screw on an existing project then you might find any near-similar sized screw might work.

These screws are only used for non-critical applications, so it's not surprising if you need to use Amazon/Aliexpress/DIY stores for getting them in a small quantity.

A book I have called "Nuts Bolts and Fasteners" devotes all of three paragraphs to such screws, and that's it. With words to the effect of don't bother using them for any critical application.

General DIY/hobby use or lightweight consumer stuff, sure, but then I don't think you can expect to find it accurately listed in detailed precision at the stores which would typically sell it to individuals. So it's a bit of pot luck if you find it.

You could try contacting screw factories but they might not sell in small quantities.. samples perhaps.
