AMETEK Announces 2012 release of  3U High PV-Simulator-in-a-Box

High-Performance Testing of PV Inverters  in a Production Test Environment for Ensuring Final Test Data Validity

PV SEC 2011, HAMBURG, September 5, 2011 * * * AMETEK Programmable Power (www.programmablepower.com) announces a 3U high single box PV simulator. The PV-simulator-in-a-box leverages the same AMETEK WindowsRegistered-based software as the turn-key TerraSAS solutions.

The TerraSAS single box simulator was designed to bridge the gap from a research and development environment to a production environment, while maintaining continuity of performance, accuracy and user interface.

“Our goal is to provide a standalone PV simulator for the production testing of PV inverters that offers the same precision MPP tracking capabilities as our successful TerraSAS solutions. This approach ensures the accuracy and validity of final test data of the PV inverters," notes Dan Donati, Vice President, AMETEK Programmable Power Solutions.

AMETEK Programmable Power, through its Elgar brand of solutions, has supplied solar array simulators for more than 20 years for ground-based satellite test systems. Turn-Key TerraSAS Solar Array Simulators are available as single or multi-channel systems from 5kW-1MW (80V-1500V).

The TerraSAS PV-simulator-in-a-box will be available as single-channel 3U high 10kW (1000V) system and shipment will begin in early Q1 of 2012.

AMETEK is showcasing the TerraSAS PV-simulator-in-a-box for the first time at the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference (Hamburg, Germany, 5 - 8 September, 2011) in Hall B3G, Stand B10.

AMETEK Programmable Power is a division of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annualized sales of $3.0 billion.
