New type of probe measures current in a PCB tracks directly.
Aim TTi has an entirely new type of current probe which is capable of measuring current in PCB tracks, without the need to break or surrond the track.
The I-prober is a compact hand-held probe which can be used with any Oscilloscope to display currents from DC to 5MHz and 10mA to 20A
Using a minaturised version of a fluxgate magnetometer enables the field at a very precise point to be measured. This allows the field and hence the relative curent flowing in the track to be dispalyed. An iteresting example occurs in ground plans, where the I-prober can be used to observe circulating currents, interference injection and "hot spots" in order to optermise a design.
Costing only GB£495/ €595/$795 the technology is available to both development and service applications.
