Playing with Signal Analysis Module for the Tektronix MDO4000

I played with the Signal Analysis Module, DPO4EMBD, for the Tektronix MDO4000 mixed-mode scope today.  It's nice that it translates the bits and parses I2C fields.  I really liked that it still worked even when I set a sweep rate so low that the bits ran together on the screen.

One problem I noticed is the scope appeared slower to respond with the module installed.  Maybe I noticed it more because I didn't know what all features would do.

The functions to decode data are under the Trigger section.  That was not immediately intuitive to me.  It makes sense, though, because the module may be used to trigger on specific data or to decode the data.

I'm curious if anyone else has tried this module.

I have found lowering the record length one step or two may be enough to improve the display response. it seems that the decoding and triggering is software driven. It would be nice to be able to peek…

Charles, I have used the DPO4EMBD module extensively. My review of the MDO4104-3 and I2C decode features is avaialble within Road Test on element14 through this link . I too found that bus decode can slow…

It would be nice to be able to peek into the system stats to confirm.
