Tenma 72-9380A multimeter

Question

Hi Guys ,

Thinking about buying a new mutlymeter ...

like the power measurement capability of this tenma 9380 model but the manual talks about a power adapter (not PSU!) to read power but I cannot find details of the adapter or how it is attached . I suspect it just links input to load via the current terminals and common while also monitoring the Volts with a third lead.

Can anyone confirm or describe how the power measurement works on this meter?

Hi Bill,

Many of the Tenma Menters seem to be made by Uni-T or Uni-Trend. Sometimes, if you can identify the corresponding model it is possible to get more information. I know that in the past the Power meters had a plug that engaged 3 of the meters jacks with a special adapter and had a male / female mains plug and outlet on the other end but I don't know if it is the same for this meter. Another thing to check out before buying is what the resolution of the Power setting is. From what they say in the spec sheet on the Tenma I would guess that 0.1 watt is the best it will do.

Hi Bill, I am not sure if all the Tenma Meters are sourced from them but just by comparison of features and appearance at least some of them are. John
