Need Help-Old Electronics

Before my father passed away he collected electronics. I have some Westinghouse and Weston ammeter's some are in Wooden boxes. I also have a CLAROSTAT 240-C POWER RESISTOR DECADE BOX 240C. Two Biddle Precision Laboratory Rheostat Lubri-Tact. I need help identifying what these are and what they may be worth.

    Hi, Donna -

     

    These are all, basiclly, antiques or near-antiques. I am no expert in these matters, but I believe that their values should be fairly high. I have been into electronics since 1965 and I do believe that some of these things pre-date me. I suggest you take the photos to an electronic antiquities dealer and ask for an opinion of value. Be sure to find a date on each item. It it has a plate with the manufacturer's name, serial number, or anything else, take a picture of the plate as well. A date would probably be on that plate. You might start by Googling "electronic antiquities" and see what you come up with. Good luck!

    I agree with Nicolas, you need to do a lot of research before you can put a value on the older electronics.

    I have sold some of my wifes fathers equipment to some local buyers.  I probably could have gotten a better deal, but I just needed to clear out some basement space.

     

    Basically, ask yourself what you would take for someone to purchase them.  Then see if you can find a similar sales price on the item.  Adjust your asking price accordingly.

     

    If you think they have great value, you might want to go through a professional antique salesman.  They can proabably help you assess their current market value.

    Hi, Donna,

     

    The meters you show are basic electrical meters.

    Power resistor decade box: is an alternative resistor with rang from 1-999.999M ohm, using for calibrating the triple-output DC Power Supply or circuit debug. It can be selected by switching knobs.

    Ampere: AM meter for measure current;

    Single phase angle meter: measure signal phase angle.

    Rheostat: a alternative resistor, the resistor can be selected variablely.

    All the meters are kept well and they are all well-known in that times. You can seek some T&M trader and fans who always like to collect some antiques.
