Press Release 3/2017

Altium TASKING VX-Toolset Improves TriCoreTm/AURIXTm based Embedded Systems Development

Altium, a Global Leader in Electronic Design Automation, Announces a Major Update for Their TASKING VX-Toolset with Version 6.2 to Deliver Best-In-Class Safety and Performance for Embedded Systems.

San Diego, CA, Nuremberg, embedded world 2017, March 16, 2017  — Altium today announced a major update to its TASKING VX-toolset for TriCoreTm with the release of version 6.2, which carries a wide range of improvements and new features to heighten development performance for TriCoreTm/AURIXTm - first and second generation based applications. The TASKING VX-toolset for TriCoreTm 6.2 is available now with a 14-day trial version on request. Existing customers with a maintenance contract can upgrade to the new release for free.

With Altium’s TASKING toolset and embedded compiler, engineers are fully equipped to optimize their code to deliver the best possible performance and safety in multi-core application designs. The latest TASKING 6.2 release includes several new features and improvements that help embedded systems developers to avoid code vulnerabilities, improve safety verification procedures, and strengthen overall development performance, including:

MISRA C:2012 Amendment 1

This amendment for MISRA C:2012 lays out additional guidelines to improve the coverage of safety concerns, specifically to provide rules and guidelines which ensure that common programming pitfalls are avoided.

TriCoreTm: Memory Protection Unit (MPU) Configuration Data Generator

For AURIXTm derivatives, the linker supports a new feature to generate information to set up the Memory Protection Unit (MPU) for a specific application. This allows for the partitioning of code and data into different safety groups on the MPU while memory access violations can be easily detected using the safety checker analysis, even before the MPU is enabled or any hardware is connected.

TASKING VX-Toolset for TriCoreTm version 6.2 not only comes with the latest features and improvements to enhance safety and performance procedures, but also signifies the first release under Automotive SPICERegistered (Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination) Level 2 process certification. ASPICERegistered certification is only awarded to companies that demonstrate the development process quality required to ensure the safety and reliability of modern automotive systems. This achievement is a testament to the top-tier development process that TASKING applies to provide quality, reliable products.

More details on new features and improvements in the TASKING VX-toolset for TriCoreTm v6.2 are available in the product Release Notes.
