Need Someone for a Project: Cypress PSoc6 BLE kit +  Honeywell Pressure Sensor Shield

rscasny
rscasny over 7 years ago

I was contacted by a supplier who is interested in giving hardware for free to someone who could do a project for them featuring  Cypress's PSoc6 BLE kit +  Honeywell Pressure Sensor Shield.

They would like the person to do the following:

Interface the pressure sensors of the Honeywell Sensor Shield with the PSoC 6 analog/digital peripherals and then transmit data via BLE or showcasing it on the E-ink display of the PSoC 6 BLE Kit. The project should have some kind of medical application. For example, measuring pressure in some kind of health/medical application.

Just to refresh your mind, here are the parts involved:

Click here for more information on this Honeywell Sensor Shield. I have not roadtested this product.

I would like to do this sometime in October. I'd like to get it accomplished in a month--the shorter time period is why I am not offering it as a roadtest.

If you are interested, feel free to comment below.

thanks.

    Hi all,

I want to apologize for the slow response. I was at the XDF conference for most of last week, manning the element14 booth, so I was unablee to respond to all my emails, etc.

    To catch up.....

    1. I received the PSoc 6 boards for anyone who does not have one.

    2. I ordered the sensor shileds for everyone.

    Sensors........

Here is a list of sensors for each project. Tell me if it is correct and I'll order

When you get a chance, can you send me what sensors you would like to use.

Now, I noticed that the MPR sensor is mounted on a breakout board for certain ones. The following image shows which ones. So, terll me if this corresponds to the sensors you would like.

    Greetings Randall rscasny ,

    The package arrived this morning.
Everything was included except the humidity sensor with the 8 pin SOIC.
Yes i thought this, it where not deliverable. No problem.

    Fine..., thank you very much.

    My first impression:

      imageimage

The CY8CKIT-062-BLE board comes with this connection to the display shield and its display shows this logo as well. The connection is compatible to Arduino.

      imageimage

The Honeywell SEK002 sensor shield can be connected as well and its sensor must look in this direction. The pressure sensor shows to the right side in the direction to the touch sensors.

      imageimage

Last, the shields can also be stacked, the display shield can be connected on top of the SEK002.

      imageimage

    Mechanically everything fits together.
Electric, electronic: From now on caution is required. All pins must be checked to see how far the display, or the sensors match, or interfere with each other.

Well, ready to rumble? Let's go! I'm ready now to make the project.

Well, the first thing I've found: The USB plug wiggles in the socket, so the data connection is sometimes lost.
One way can help, turn the plug over, and, or position the board so that the cable can not pull.

After power up comes this BLE UI instruction.

    "Hello World"...

(The video was created with screenshots in image sequences because the smartphone can not run two apps at the same time.)

To control the development board, you also have to turn on the Bluetooth dongle. This works best on a free USB port of the PC.
Then you can download the app for the corresponding mobile device (eg: Smartphone) and install it there. For my smartphone, this was the Android app.

    http://www.cypress.com/products/psoc-4-ble-bluetooth-smart

After the installation and procedure, as explained in the Quickstart, you look in the app the BLE-UI module and connects the development board with the app on the mobile device.
Then you can use the menu accordingly alternately control the development module, or on this read with the touch sensor data in the app.

    That was "Hello World".
Now I have to check all connections so that I can integrate the Honeywell SEK002 Sensor Shield.

    One more point:
On the website of Cypress in the development tool CY8CKIT-062-BLE there are also the hardware documents, circuit diagram, PCB for downloading.
These were created with Cadence ORCAD (V16).
You can download from Cadence the free current trial tool (V17) and edit this hardware documentation.

    https://trial.cadence.com/orcad/signup/?_ga=2.118349834.228292654.1541457454-315796324.1541457454

You have to register, after a review you get via email a link to download the installation.

I worked with Cadence about 25 years ago, ok, a lot has happened.

Normally I work with Autodesk EAGLE, let's see how I can convert from ORCAD to EAGLE. That is important for the project.

    Gerald,

Whatever is missing either had a long lead time or one of the parts was only available at the supplier and they had very few made already. So, I sent you want I could get.

    My package arrived today too.

Say, as this is not an official road test report (assumption), are we to write up a blog about our mini test project and post under road test review.

    Rgds

    Hi Colin.

    It's not an official roadtest.

Just create a blog here: Cypress

    Thank you.

Yes this was also my question. I'll blog there as well.
