Design for a Cause Challenge: The Kit

Design for a Cause Challenge

About this Challenge | The Kit | The Prizes | Education Team Prize | Intro Video | Technical Documents | The Judges | Example Application  | Terms & Conditions | The Challengers

All 16 of the sponsored Challengers for the Design for a Cause Challenge will receive for FREE the kit detailed in the table below.

Our judges will choose 16 applicants to become sponsored challengers, and they will receive the kit free of charge. If you are not a sponsored challenger, you can still compete as a non-sponsored or independent challenger.  See note below.*

Arduino MKR1000 Dev Board
  • Microcontroller:  SAMD21 Cortex-M0+ 32bit low power ARM MCU
  • Clock speed: 48MHz
  • Board Power Supply (USB/VIN): 5V
  • Operating voltage: 3.3V
  • Flash memory: 256KB
  • SRAM: 32KB
  • Digital I/O Pins: 8
  • PWM Pins: 12
  • UART: 1
  • SPI: 1
  • I2C: 1

*Once the sponsored Challengers receive their kit, they will then embark on their journey of designing an exciting and original project that uses the Arduino MKR1000 Dev BoardMKR1000 Dev Board.  They will design a piece of assistive technology for individuals living with physical or mental impairments. (NOTE: Even if you aren't a sponsored Challenger, you can still participate in the Design Challenge as long as you  integrate the Arduino MKR1000 Dev Board into your design.)

The deadline for project application submissions is 20th June 2018.
