In the Air Design Challenge - The Winners

A big thank you to all who participated in the In the Air IoT Design Challenge, the partners, element14 and the wider public have been deeply impressed by the projects we've seen to help create a greener, cleaner world.
It was not an altogether straightforward matter to pick a winner: however, in the end, we've awarded the prizes to the following individuals and their projects.
The Grand Prize
The Grand Prize has gone to Christever del Rosario of New Zealand for his Carbon Footprint Monitoring System.  His project's final summary can be read by clicking here.

Christever will receive:
  1. 15 inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display
  2. U1273A OLED Multimeter from Keysight
  3. SimpleLinkTm Bluetooth SmartRegistered/Multi-Standard SensorTag (Manufacturer Number: CC2650STK)
Community Choice Winner
The Community Choice Winner by a clear plurality of votes was Inderpreet Singh of India for his Firecracker Aftermath Analyzer.  His project's final summary can be read by Clicking here.

Inderpreet will receive:
  1. 13 inch MacBook Air
  2. SimpleLinkTm Bluetooth SmartRegistered/Multi-Standard SensorTag (Manufacturer Number: CC2650STK)
Additionally, we felt that two other projects deserved recognition as Honourable Mentions; both engineers will receive a SimpleLinkTm Bluetooth SmartRegistered/Multi-Standard SensorTag as a prize.

    only increases the number of "I'm just letting you know that I was unable to make progress this week" posts

    That is not necessarily correct.

    Anyone that looks at any other challenge will see there might be delays or 'slow' weeks, and as Engineers you should be prepared for that.

    It is not hard to find material to support your project (after all you did apply and it was your idea) and to present these in the weekly blog.

     

    Posting a blog that states "I can't do anything because I didn't order parts early enough" IMO is pure laziness and speaks volumes about your engineering skills (or the lack of them).

    Not quite ... it was also mine and element14 were warned about this going back to the Forget Me Not challenge.

     

    If the rule is ignored why put it in at all.

    I agree and in the future challenges we are able to see minion of the week and other awards by e14 which will fill the gaps to some extent.

    Thanks you ipv1. I am sure this comes from deep and is not superficial. It is a shame a few more prizes are not awarded in the future to offset some hard working individuals from sharing in the limelight. All of the participants worked hard and to their own ability overcoming challenges we will never see fully. My hat's off to all those unsung heroes.image
