AuraAlert is an inclusive notification system that merges sound and light to create accessible alerts for individuals with hearing impairments and for anyone who could benefit from enhanced awareness in their environment. The system listens for important everyday sounds—such as doorbells, alarms, timers, or even a child’s call—and instantly converts them into visual and haptic cues.
We will be using Würth Elektronik's IC-LEDs to ensure bright, uniform, and reliable illumination, optimized for visibility across a room both day and night.
By combining the resonance of sound with the clarity of light, AuraAlert provides a seamless, inclusive solution for homes, workplaces, and public spaces. It empowers people to stay aware, connected, and safe—ensuring no important sound ever goes unnoticed.
AuraAlert includes three complementary devices, each designed to serve a unique use case while working together via wireless network.
- Wall mounted tile-able device- Listens for sound and alerts visually. Can be tiled to increase visibility, Great for hall ways or large rooms
- Wall mounted halo device - Listens for sound and alerts visually in a more subtle way, to be used in front of study table, or anywhere in usual gaze of the user
- Haptic Hand held device - Receives signal from wall mounted devices and alerts the user visually and through haptic. Can be carried in person
This will be my Diary of progress for my submission for the Light up your Life.
