Some of my colleagues here in Chicago at the element14 offices know that I took up cooking this past fall when I subscribed to a food delivery service called, Home Chef, that sends not only the food but the recipes as well. All I have to do is cook it up.
I figured that anyone can cook. Just follow the directions. A quarter cup of sauce here, 2 tablespoons of olive oil there. Pre-heat the over to 375F. Cut the carrots in one half inch dice. That sort of thing. A piece of cake, right?
Hmm....not exactly....
The fact is I soon discovered that cooking isn't as easy as my own Mama Mia Mom ("Chetty" was her name) made it look like when she cooked up her homemade pasta sauce from scratch with the smell of garlic and oregano diffusing around the house, or cooked my favorite, tasty chocolate cake.
Let's say, I'm a cook in search of a Chef master to teach me some tricks of the kitchen. But not any Chef Master....
I need a PiChef Master. It's an emergency.
Here are my leading challenges in the kitchen:
1. Did you ever try to chop a full onion into 1/4 inch squares? If you did, you will know the torture -- that burning sensation in your eyes! Will a PiChef step up and create something to help me?
2. Geez, I thought I read that recipe step but I missed sautee-ing the mushrooms. If I only had a little PiChef on my shoulder to alert me and say, "Randall, you missed a step! You dummy!!" Will a PiChef step up and create something to help me?
3. Given all the new ingredients I work with (I never knew what basil looked like before I started cooking) on my cooking counter, it looks like an earthquake hit it! I need some organizing while cooking. Will a PiChef step up and create something to help me?
4. Have you ever tried to take the temperature of baking chicken with a hot oven open? I always have problems of inserting the temp probe so I know just when it hits 165F? The temp probe sags and I have to hold it which is sort of hot. Will a PiChef step up and create something to help me?
I have about 10 other things I need a PiChef Master to invent for me. But I can hear the my teapot whistling. So, I got to go. NOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!
