Have you used openmv and/or the Nicla Vision

scottiebabe
scottiebabe over 2 years ago

Openmv apparently adds a number of machine vision functions (like openCV) to micropython and includes a development IDE.

Recording a video clip is apparently as simple as:

import sensor, mjpeg, time

# Setup camera.
sensor.reset()
sensor.set_pixformat(sensor.RGB565)
sensor.set_framesize(sensor.QVGA)
sensor.skip_frames()
c = time.clock()

# Create the mjpeg object.
m = mjpeg.Mjpeg("example.mjpeg")

# Add frames.
for i in range(100):
    c.tick()
    m.add_frame(sensor.snapshot())

# Finalize.
m.close(c.fps())

You can also setup a rtsp server:

    Yes, it is cold here too ! Even if the weather was warmer think I would still only demonstrate a proof of concept, but I have no ideas just yet. Excited to see what kind of solutions get proposed

    Perhaps it would be best to wait until April. However, it could be a fantastic idea to spend the next three months creating the prototypes and using them this summer.

    It is a fair point. I am guessing the challenge won't actually start until mid-February or early March. I'm sure if you asked, the judging date could be postponed to date much closer to June/July to give challengers a chance to demonstrate their prototype with busy bees.

    Personally I don't intend to work with live bees Bee

    I don't know if I will be able to submit an application by the deadline. But if I present something, it will be with the idea of tackling a problem that affects bees, without the need to imply any contact with the bees during the project. It can be a project about any type of pollution, light, sound, electromagnetic, thermal... I don't know, I don't know very well the problems of bees and it would be a good opportunity to learn more about them.

    I am in a similar situation. I am unsure that I will know the problem and/or the solution to a bee problem in the next few days.

    My interest is really to experiment with the nicla vision and then in the final blog attempt to apply what I have learned to a bee problem.

    Same here - if I get around to it, it will be more theoretical and less actual-bee-measuring. Even now in summer here in Australia, I can go out in my backyard and spend an hour without seeing a bee.
