Preparing the growing baskets

The seeds are placed in a cut on the foam.

I am testing Lettuce, Parsley, Rocket and Spinach all in one go.

So far this is what we got. I will place them in the drum as soon as I have most of them germinated.

I will be using the following nutrient solution on the first cycle testing. They say this is the brand chosen by NASA and Antarctica Scientists to grow their experimental crops... Can't go wrong!

Great idea. You could almost do it using still images as well.

Mark you are true. As a matter of fact I was just thinking to some old unused smartphone or also a webcam (or a Pi Cam image ) There is plenty of Android free apps to make very good automated time lapse shooting including the bare assembly of the images in a simple mp4 video.

Thinking to this project.. If you have your growing system in an almost stable place and a camera it will be great to automate a 1 hr self-shooting to see a video of the growing plants while rotating for a week (1 second every day at 24 fps) image
