Small Models

So, I am going to create a 1-2 level aquaponic farm with some really small unedible fish- like the ones at the pet store. I guess I will feel bad about giving them away later, but I need to fix up a smaller module to make sure that my parts are right. Basically it will have a 30 gallon tank for the beginning, a ph sensor and possibly some other chemical sensors.(Have to check exactly what I need) I bought the parts yesterday, and am going to the local Home Depot(again) because I forgot about the wall adapters for the pump. (Shopping at ten PM is really tiring xD).  I will use a relay to control the pump(130 gallons per hour), but as far as I can see, I won't use any huge electronically guzzling parts, since I will skip the solar panel/LED parts in this model for the sake of getting started and not waiting for parts to arrive. I am thinking about using a siphon for the return water trip and working on a fish feeder following the same format as my previous balance method. Just tested the pump and figured it worked with some pretty hilarious resorts, which means I have to clean up the bathroom mirror now image. Pictures to arrive soon as I can get the pump set up. I will be buying hydroton media and start working on a bacterial filter later... (As a sidenote just using hydroton for now probably will scratch that out later). If I can get enough time today, I will try to take pictures and maybe figure out how to use a doodle program to paste a design picture. Now that I know what type of plant I will use, I will start building. I might have to make the module with an arduino, but I hope I can figure out relay modules in SS by then.

Yes I have a good cheap solution to that problem, Like most products you can get the same thing marketed to different markets with a massive price difference. I use a fridge active carbon filter, they will run you about £5. the slower you pull the water thru the filter the better it can do its job, I run mine at 1L/min and usually leave it in for a year.

Another good point here is that you can use pneumatic fittings and 1/4" [check the inlet size for filter] pipe for the rest of your system, the fittings are cheap and will allow you to split off, mount to a wall etc.

First hit on British ebay, you are sure to find cheaper with a little searching:

Also, Just check you do actually have chlorine in the water, here at my address we dont have it 80% of the time it is added at random times when something bad is found in the water supply.

TY for the fridge idea will definitely look into it, although I still might go for using dechlorinator chemicals(boo to the unaturals image ) . I am currently in my small model using hose tubing. Just finished the gravel and my timer is coming in tomorrow. Probably will right a blog post about it as soon as it looks like I actually did anything image
