Small Models

So, I am going to create a 1-2 level aquaponic farm with some really small unedible fish- like the ones at the pet store. I guess I will feel bad about giving them away later, but I need to fix up a smaller module to make sure that my parts are right. Basically it will have a 30 gallon tank for the beginning, a ph sensor and possibly some other chemical sensors.(Have to check exactly what I need) I bought the parts yesterday, and am going to the local Home Depot(again) because I forgot about the wall adapters for the pump. (Shopping at ten PM is really tiring xD).  I will use a relay to control the pump(130 gallons per hour), but as far as I can see, I won't use any huge electronically guzzling parts, since I will skip the solar panel/LED parts in this model for the sake of getting started and not waiting for parts to arrive. I am thinking about using a siphon for the return water trip and working on a fish feeder following the same format as my previous balance method. Just tested the pump and figured it worked with some pretty hilarious resorts, which means I have to clean up the bathroom mirror now image. Pictures to arrive soon as I can get the pump set up. I will be buying hydroton media and start working on a bacterial filter later... (As a sidenote just using hydroton for now probably will scratch that out later). If I can get enough time today, I will try to take pictures and maybe figure out how to use a doodle program to paste a design picture. Now that I know what type of plant I will use, I will start building. I might have to make the module with an arduino, but I hope I can figure out relay modules in SS by then.

Yes I have a good cheap solution to that problem, Like most products you can get the same thing marketed to different markets with a massive price difference. I use a fridge active carbon filter, they…

It is true Michael! A lot of times I buy the same thing on a different market with an incredible difference of price.

The Hydratron will make a great bacteria bed, plenty of surface area for it to live on.

Dont forget you will need to build the bacteria up before putting the fish in and feeding them, you can buy some "start up" bacteria from a aquaponics store, but I find a weak solution of urine works just as well to get the beds activated. Also if your water has any chemicals added to make it safe to drink you will need to filter it, or let it stand for a long time before adding it to your aquaponics, or it will kill the good bacteria in your system.

Thanks for the comment. Been real busy, so have been getting my relay to working. Dechlorinator filters are expensive, but I don't want to leave standing water out(mosquitoes)... Got any ideas?
