OK, so I received the EZR32WG starter kit last Friday. Thanks to element14Dave!
This is not much of a blog post, but it's intended only as an update and the result of having recieved the EZR32WG starter kit last Firday.
I spent the weekend installing one of the EZR32WG MCUs and an RPi in an enclosure. This will be the cultivation area SCADA system.
The EZR32WG MCU will now replace the EFM32ZG MCU. I'm currently busy making a wiring harness for the enclosure and the code originally written for the EFM32ZG has been ported to the new MCU and is fully operational. Next, I'll write the communications code for the EZR32WG MCUs.
Please see the enclosure in the figures below. (Please excuse the mess. lol...)
Controller and power supply powered up and logging data.
Controller face with EZR32WG antenna installed.
Closeup of enclosure with EZR32WG, RPi and stepper motor controller installed, wired up and powered up. You can see here that the EZR32WG is actually being powered from an RPi USB port, although the RPi is a little difficult to see. The RPi is being powered through the GPIO header from a salvaged desktop PC power supply.
And here's another example of data being captured right now.

More to come soon. I have the cultivator unit completely assembled and setup. This weekend I should have all the code completed and the entire system up and running.
Good luck to all the VF challengers, and happy vertical farming!
Cheers,
Rick
