Start playing with the kits to build monitoring system

Hello everybody,

Today I managed to start playing with all the stuff that I receive. My goal is now to start building the monitoring system. I suddenly found that some stuff is missing from my package and also in the invoice documents that I receive. Does anybody knows when we will receive:

  • Wurth capacitor kit (885 060)
  • Wurth switch kit (499 001)

Thanks.

I've been asking around about this as well because I think it is pretty silly that I don't have the EZR32 microcontroller, since i'm required to use it. I also can't get simplicity studios to work....…

Well, I am using a PC, but the Simplicity Studio does not recognize my EFM32 as being connected... Have yet to test with different computers, so I am just working on some arduino water based stuff right…

I've tried reinstalling and exiting a bunch of times, but my computer anti-virus software sometiems says that SS contains a safety hazard, do you think I should just accept? Still can't get it to recognize…

I think Win 7 or 8 should be fine.

One thing I've found that seems to make a difference is the order in which you run software and attach the device. Make sure that Simplicity studio is up and running and then connect the MCU. You should see a file open that lists several .html files. The switch back to SS. It may take a minute or so for the software to recognize the device. If the USB bus is seeing the J-Link debugger the software should detect the device and connect.

    Hmmmm....

You are on a Windows machine, correct?

Have you updated to Windows 10?

Are you using only Windows Defender?

    Firewall on?

Are you connected to the Internet while installing SS?

It could be that some driver(s) or other required software is not being downloaded during install.

I have SS running on both an Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows 10 VMs. I haven't had any issues except the one I described. And I caused that one.

Still can't get it to recognize... But the computer lists the j-link on its USBs. Maybe it's because I did not install drivers correctly. Any suggestions?

I know a couple fo folks had issues with their machines not recognizing the MCU at frist. I think most everyone just removed and reinstalled SimplicityStudio to fix it.

I had one issue where it was working fine and then quit recignizing the MCU. It had to do with trying to access the sensor-puck and changing the debug from MCU to OUT, I think that's right. But I eventually got it corrected.

    Cheers,

    Rick
