    Try installing the driver for Windows 8.1 - the 'updated' windows 10 driver that comes from M$ doesn't seem to be working

    Great!

    Hey, when you get to a point where you can flash a program to the MCU let me know. I have hardware setup and code that will drive the stepper motor. It's set up for the EFM32ZG right now but it should run on the EZR32WG with very little change. It provides a good bit of control from the user push buttons. Mainly just direction control and jogging. But it would give you a starting place if you need it.

    Cheers

    Rick

    That would be great help I'm at that stage now also when u get your ezr32wg if you cut a small section out of the case you can fit the boards into the box with the wireless adapters attached aswell aswell as the other board thought this would be a safer option rater than keep removing them while I haven't attached them to the build yet

    Bur yea that program would be a great help thanks

    Here ya go man.

    Unzip and do an Import of the folder into SimplicityStudio. Again, this is for the EFM32ZG so I'm not sure if it will run on the EZR boards. If not then it should only need minor changes. I would test with the EFM board first though.

    I used the expansion header on the dev board to connect the stepper controller. The program is configured for the following:

    This is assuming a Unl2003 stepper controller.

    Stepper Controller Board PinEFM32ZG Expansion Header Pin
    + : 5VDCPin 18 - 5VDC
    - : CommonPin 1 -   Gnd
    IN1Pin 12 - PD4
    IN2Pin 14 - PD5
    IN3Pin 6 -   PD6
    IN4Pin 7 -   PD4

    Here's some instructions. This is all just testing and functionality I'm trying for ,y application.

    When the program first runs it will not do anything.

    PB0 = Clockwise

    PB1 = Counter clockwise.

    1. A short press will just start the motor in the corresponding direction. It starts slowly and reaches full speed within 15 pulses. Once it starts it will make one full rotation, then sleep for 5 seconds and starts up again.
    2. Press and hold either button for more than 500ms, the corresponding user LED will light up and the motor will run in the chosen direction for as long as the button is pressed. Same speed up routine applies. When you release the button the LEDs will go off, the motor will start slowly again and the single rotation and timer process starts from the position where the button was released. This allows you to precisely position the motor before starting the cycle.
    3. Press both buttons simultaneously and the motor will stop.

    Cheers,

    Rick
