    I'd use this kit to learn linux, tinker around with the GPIO possibilities and, when I have enough knowledge to know what I'm doing, make a portable Raspberry Pi Linux computer !

    I Would use this in my main tv since my current Media center takes up a lot of space , I used a lot of scrap parts to put this "half a laptop" together

    it will be great to use it in my home made domotica system ( dedicated  pi server upgrade for a network connection)

    I am a university student who likes to visit K-12 classrooms to make kids become excited about STEM education and careers. I want to have something more portable than my laptop to carry around my coding projects that are aimed towards kids. It would be great to just hook this up to a tv and show kids in a classroom some of the things that they could be coding on their own using Scratch, Touch Develop or other similar things!

    I would give that to my mom with all her favorite movies on it, It's simple to use , it doesn't take a lot of place and it's easier for older peaple to get use to things with remote controls.

    I would use the raspberry pi to further enhance an instrumentation software I developed. Currently I have developed a software capable of operating a potentiostat (PA273A model by Princeton). However I would like to control the operation of the potentiostat using the Raspberry Pi.

     

    Please find attached the Github link to the software which comes with a built in simulator for software and hardware testing and development. Link( https://github.com/amitsandhel/PA273-Potentiostat-Software ). 

     

    The Raspberry Pi can have several various functions. For one the Raspberry Pi could tweet the experiment status, save the experiment data to Django thereby developing a database of the experiment can be recorded and built. The Raspberry Pi could also email the results to the user (as a csv file or png graphs) because the experiments run overnight in many cases or at least several hours without operator supervision.

     

    The Raspberry Pi could also operate the potentiostat and have built in safety features so that if the voltage and current go over safety limits, the Raspberry Pi can shut off the potentiostat, email a warning to the user. Currently a safety feature on the potentiostat is lacking. No software currently exists to turn off the potentiostat during emergency procedures. 

     

    The software is sophisticated. It comes with a built in simulator for testing purposes and is built in Python. If a user wishes they could simply run the software using the simulator mode without the potentiostat being physically available. The software has two settings/versions. Setting/Version 1 allows users to run single voltage experiments while Setting/Version 2 allows users to do waveform programming.

     

    The software stores the data into csv excel files and those excel files are used to generate graphs to display the data (which could be emailed to the user by the Raspberry Pi). The software has logging capability which records all processes performed by the software during execution.

    I would like to install it as a plex client for my elderly parents to be able to view family movies and content-on-demand as they tell me what their needs are....
