Helping eyes for soldering

Former Member
Former Member over 9 years ago

I love electronics and programming. The other day I bought an arduino compatible board and it needs headers solder onto it. I have the tools, the solder, everything, even helping hands with a magnifying glass. There's one problem, I'm legally blind and soldering is not within the grasp of my vision at 20/125. So, I'm thinking, I have a 32 inch flat screen hooked to my computer and Raspberry pi, what could we do with this to make a blind guy soldering station?

Obviously the design would need to be modified to allow enough room for the circuit board and your hands, but if a smartphone screen is large enough for you, this might be an inexpensive solution. You can use whatever magnification you need to be able to see and this would keep the viewer between you and the project, making it less necessary to modify your movements vs what you see.
