I've seen brushed DC on mostly very small quadrotors, like 6" wingspan or less.

As for lazy fourth motor, I think the fried ESC/Motor was the problem originally.

Hi Steven.. the power to weight ratio for dc brushed motor will not be enough for a lift. So untill you have a supper efficient friciton less dc brushed motor.. that might not be possible. I hope it works for you.

Yes. I was pretty sure those ESC's were the hobbyking red brick esc's. The programming card works with turnigy esc. I hope Ben can reply to this..

How did he fix the lazy fourth motor problem. I have tried trimming the servo controls on the TX but that has not helped me.

He will probably need a good dampener to prevent vibrations of the frame to pass onto the gyros.

Thanks for the list and explanation...   I'm trying to build one using DC Brushed motors, not as much power to the prop but much cheaper if you accidentally blow one.  It's really just an experiment to see if it's possible.

I think these are most of the parts he used

The props we wanted weren't in stock at Hobbyking so he got them from eBay, don't remember the size.  As for the motor not working, I accidently chose a 4S battery so that was what he had used and we think we fried one of the ESC's/motors.  As for programming, I'm not sure what card to use with those ESC's so we couldn't get it to program.

    Hi Ben,

I think you are using the NTM motors. Is your ESC programmable ?. What is the model number for it. The flight controller seems to be HK Multi Rotor Control Board. It has the lazy fourth motor problem. Is that the problem did you face ?. I am making the quadrotor myself, but my ESC is not programmable and therefore I cannot calibrate them all together through the flight controller.  So eventually, I am not sure what is the issue, and plan to design my own flight controller using a beaglebone and a ST MKI 108V2 sensor board.

How do you think is the performance of the piezo gyros ? Is the propeller 10x 4.7 SF ?

Why didn't you say what was wrong with the one motor that wouldn't turn?  half of most projects is troubleshooting when something isn't working right.

I don't see a BOM for this project, it would be nice to see exactly what parts you used and where you got them and how much they cost.
