For anyone who is interested I've gone through the video and made an exact list of parts that Ben uses. The MAX6675 breakout board appears to be from Adafruit and can be found here. The thermocouple also…

Did you ever complete your toaster reflow oven?

I need one, so I just ordered an Arduino, a relay module, a thermocouple and associated module. I'll get it put together in short order (pun intended).

I'm hoping that I can find a toaster oven at Goodwill or something reasonable.

I'm currently working on a Reflow Oven. I have purchased all of the parts, and I am writing the Arduino code as we speak. I will post information about how I did it when I am done. Does anyone know the heating curve for leaded solder paste? I found the curve for lead-free already.

have you seen the old sun lamps. they where used to give a sun tan. they are like a flood light, but they produce infrared radiation rather than light. i think this is one of those, because it glows to quick to be a normal heating element. we used them to unsolder LSI ic's, because they can be focused and precicely controlled. hope that helps.

Is there anything unique about that model toaster oven that makes it well suited for this? Does the "infrared" heating bit mean anything significant, or is that really marketing and all electric toaster ovens are infrared? Would a convection toaster not be well suited?

Does anyone know of a good cheaper relay that I can use?

For anyone who is interested I've gone through the video and made an exact list of parts that Ben uses.

The MAX6675 breakout board appears to be from Adafruit and can be found here.

The thermocouple also appears to be from Adafruit. It is a Type-K Glass Braid Insulated Thermocouple which is usable up to 500 degrees C. It can be found here.

Finally the relay looks to be a Solid State Relay from Octo 22. It is model number 240D25-17. I'll leave the sourcing of that part to everyone because it can be found in various places online.

Hope that helps anyone looking to build a reflow oven like I am.
