Sensor to detect Human Presence

Question

Hello BEN , Is there any sensor to detect human presence . Am aware of PIR ( Passive Infra Red ) sensor , which would human motion but not the human presence . Another way is by using image processing technique. Kindly suggest me a better solution . Thanks.

There are 4 main technologies that can meet these requirements - ultrasonic, video, radar, and lidar. You can find many commercial systems based on these technologies, including wireless versions. Search for terms like rear object detection system or parking assist system or vehicle backup system. Most of these systems are designed for vehicle applications and are suitably rugged. If you want to protect them more, simply mount them in waterproof shock-mounts. All of them probably need periodic cleaning if they are expected to work in muddy environments.

Possibly combine it with a PIR or other motion sensor to screen out warm spots that never move (heating pipes, Electronics etc).

The solution depend on the enviromental conditions. Are there ony humans which can be detected or are there animals too? How big is the area to supervise? what kind of warm object can be in the area? Detecting the presens of a person in a car for example is different fom the same question for a room with oly one door or a field. In a Car a thermal system is not the best selection, because it would recognize the swtched on seat heater too or the sun heated the seat. (or the dog lies on the seat.) For a room with only a door is possible to supervise just the door, or use the named IR detection systems form Omron or Panasonic. For a greater area an image processing system would be the bet choise. Just tell a litle bit more about your problem, then you get better answers.

You can use proximity sensors to count how many people enter or leave through a door. If you use 2 sensors, you can tell which direction the person is going by which one gets triggered first. optical sensor optical sensor ultrasonic sensor ultrasonic sensor
