I used a Raspberry Pi Zero W, some open source knowledge and some of own to make GamerMan Ultra Classic.  Like to thank those who helped me with the video, in particularly my friend Trev for making the GamerMan Ultra Classic Splash/Logo.  I look forward to catching up on some much needed sleep!

Yah in a couple of instances it was done on purpose, but ya it could have used some more tweaking for sure. Gotta further those "master" craftsman skills

"That old fat Sega Genesis thing".. LOL! Aside from some camera focus and audio level issues, this was a really cool video to watch! You've obviously got some great skills and the wood case is a nice touch…

Thank Rory I was trying to show the key bits of how I put it together, any chance we will get to see some video/details of your project?

Thanks, it was hard to pick and choose what to show and to leave out.  I'm hoping to have my web site up and running soon with a complete set of build instructions and all the various 3d components, software and other documentation available.  Right now its just a blank word press site, but eventually there should be something worth reading on  http://www.inappropriatetools.com , its only been registered since last year but there is finally more then place holder associated to it.  Im beginning to regret not taking the time to shorten that, its like its own small essay to type into the address bar, oh well.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Great Build Chris!

Love the wood finish, its got a very warm and classic feel to it.

You did a really good job of showing the care and attention you paid to this build,  from notepad, to woodwork, to soldering....

Keep up the good work!  For next project I would suggest adding some brass trim on hard wood and a vacuum tube for headphone drive, if you have space  image

Thanks, the router was a bit a of happy coincidence as it happened to not only be the cheapest plunge router I could find with the option to be adjusted from under neath, but also has LED lighting built.  The acetone transfer I stumbled upon on YouTube when I was making my first rpi wifi stereo, i'm still working on my technique but it seems to be popular way of transferring labels, images, etc onto wood surfaces.  I'm not entirely sure what the Mini Me version will consist of, originally I was think of  a Pi Zero and a small display using the ILI9163C chip set, but I may explore using an onion omega 2 instead, you'll just have to wait for the sequel!

    Cheers,

    Chris

Thanks! I am always trying to come up with new content. My build was mainly to show the multi use and abilities to adapt to any gamers preference. I wouldn't really use it as a two player system much, but being able to lay in bed and project your game onto the ceiling is much enjoyment!

Thanks Elliot, I liked your pico projector add-on allowing others to connect controllers to join in.  However it kind of goes against my philosophy, to quote the late John Hurt "Why build one when you can have two at twice the price?", that is to say just make two image.  I look forward to seeing more of your videos to say the least.

    Cheers,

    Chris

OH man, the closeup videos of the tool work were really satisfying to work. That wood router footage with the lights was super cool. I've never seen that acetone transfer method before, that was neat! I hope to see the GamerMan Mini Me you teased at the end!
