I think the original request was making a portable snes classic and Ben chose the raspberry pie and retropie route to do it.

    Adam:
"Auditions" is just our way of generating interest in this challenge - and a chance for 10 lucky people to get some free products!

You have to declare your intent if you want to enter the main Hack Like Heck challenge for a chance to win $500 for your video and the grand prize trip to Madison to be on a future episode of The Ben Heck Show.

Check out What am I supposed to build? for the details on what we're asking you to build.  It doesn't have to be have Raspberry Pi in it.

Do we have to declare intent if you are not in the first top ten winners of the audition? Also can you make any portable or just raspberry pi?

    I was only joking around.

Have you watched Roadhouse? This is your moment of redemption!

Only so many words can be put in a 1 minute video my original was close to 3 minutes until I started editing.   So lots of things get missed and we just hope we kept the right and best parts we could.  Well for me anyways.

    This isn't looking good...

So far, from what I watched...no one has mentioned anything about "ROADHOUSE"!!! You said in your text radio build that people should know what that movie is and have seen it but nothing has been disclosed in the audition tapes. WHY??????

The original request for a build came from a viewer who basically requested a hand-held, portable gaming device.  Ben built a Raspberry Pi MAME and challenged himself by not using the HDMI port . . .

The challenge (in this contest) is to build a hand-held game.

If you want to take advantage of what Ben and Felix did - you have 40 minutes of video (the two episodes) and the BOM and all the files on github to use to your advantage.

If you want to do it a totally different way - go for it.

Unfortunately the post above doesn't reference any specific build, and while @colecago may very well have nailed it on the head, I also can't find the specific build in the video list for Ben Heck. The only one I can find, and I don't know that it's correct, is "Build Your Portable Raspberry Pi" which was an enjoyable video series, but I don't want to submit a video audition and get question #1 entirely wrong.

Secondly, the second and third questions aren't really questions, and while it's easy enough to extrapolate the meaning of the second, the third SEEMS to be asking a simple yes/no question, which should be answered by everyone with an emphatic YES!

I'm wondering this, too. The part that says "How you would answer the viewer’s request" is unclear to me. I don't see anything in the Pi MAME project videos that references a viewer request.
