What am I Supposed to Build? | Create and Submit Your Project Video | Terms and Conditions

Here are the video guidelines for final project build videos.

Be sure you Declare Your Intention by 31-March before submitting your video.

You may want to bookmark this page as we may update it as additional questions are asked.  Have a question?  Post it in the comments below.

  1. Use the intro and outro video clips provided by element14
    • Intro Clip (place before your video begins)
    • Outro Clip (place at the end of your video)
  2. Total video length should be between 12-18 minutes
  3. The Project/Build:
    1. Should have an introduction – What are you building?  Why are you building it that way?
    2. Should show the major steps in project creation
    3. Should have a conclusion that includes demonstrating a functioning project
  4. Technical Considerations
    1. Focus – is everything in focus?
    2. Framing – does the most important thing fill the majority of the frame?
    3. Sound – can you be heard clearly without echo or background noise?
  5. Bonus points (or possible tie-breakers)
    1. Everyone likes close-ups of soldering
    2. Show your personality

I would recommend only using Creative Commons music or original music to which you own the rights.

Especially if it's on YouTube, copyright strikes, ain't no-one got time for that!

Are we able to use our own music in our video? Or is that copyright infringement? I would site the artist.

Ha, thanks for not pressing "no" Dave! Karen's answer was very helpful actually, so give her a "helpful" if you like.

My concern was that if I am creating a "screen testing episode" of sorts, it might have been helpful to have a seperate casual intro before it to give some context to viewers, kind of like others did with their audition.

I'll probably try to either make the "context" apparent in the submission itself (and have the clips where they should be), or I'll make an extended version that I'll use on my own social media to give the context to those who need it.

I was tempted to hit the "no" on "helpful" for this one image but Ben, if you're unsure, put them before the outtakes and after the outtakes?
