That ATTINY sure is being worked hard, I think you should set up the watch dog timer to prevent it from jamming up even though in theory it shouldn't jam. I've been caught out before when the watch dog could have saved me from revisiting a job.

I'm not sure I know what you mean. Could you describe your idea further?

I've not watched the glue gun episode yet but from the above comment I assume the ATTINY is being used to control the squirting of the glue and I assume Stephen is concerned that if that crashes you'll end up with a supergluey mess everywhere and it'll keep squirting super sticky icky stuff until you can turn off the power or it runs out. A watchdog timer making sure the ATTINY is still functioning would catch an issue and shut everything down before it glues you and everything else to your bench!
Best Regards,
Rachael
Yes, what Rachael is saying is what I was getting at. Even in the instance that the MCU freezes and the glue is not squirting, having a watch dog timer in place would prevent you from having to cycle the power on the glue gun to make it work again, it would just reset and the user would never know there was an issue. Seeing as the MCU regulates the temperature it would also be a good idea to have a watch dog timer from a safety perspective.
I'm not familiar with these, but given the description it seems to be something valuable enough to incorporate into the circuit. I'll present it to the team and see what they think. Thanks for the feedback, everyone!
