I think you could leverage the portability and capacity of 18650 batteries, and a USB charge pack for the charging portion. Can get smart charging docks for the batteries themselves, and will save some space on the wrist piece by just having a step-up converter to 5v 1A for the phone. Too high an amperage to charge and the phone will get pretty hot in the sleeve, but has to be high enough to meet today's phone standards.

I wonder about the ergonomics also. A sufferer of a lasting RSI injury, having my arm twisted to read a wrist watch is uncomfortable for long periods of time, so if the phone is slanted it will make it more comfortable to view, and also give space underneath for the battery, keeping the wrist holster less bulky depending on the phone used.

Also keep in mind the phone needs to be in Portrait orientation, perpendicular on the wrist so that the app is in the correct orientation for catching pokemon.

This could make for an interesting super-wristwatch project.
