We've had to pull this video from YouTube and upload it via our video content provider thanks to changes YouTube have been making recently. Sorry if it makes it awkward for anyone re-watching the stream!

The day it started working, Ben was baffled. He didn't think he had done anything significant, but it began working consistently. What he had done, was replace additional capacitors, so he deduced that was what really did the final fix allowing the system to read and play discs.

I'm still not understanding what was done to get the flaky distorted audio working for music CDs and what was done to properly adjust the potentiometer(s) on the drive (maybe he use his scope with an alignment disk?).  There is a gap between part 1 and part 2 where the unit was somehow fixed.  Ben just glossed over it saying it was mostly bad caps and he put back the tombstone resistor fix to make it more stable.  At the end of part 1, he had replaced all the caps but the audio was still bad.  Really curious what actually fixed it.  I'm bet the owners are happy they can take it to shows and people can see it fully functional.

BTW, if the old power supply cap is leaky, it will get warm after the unit runs for an hour or so.  Maybe check the temp or use a cap tester to be sure the old cap is really good enough to keep.

They already fixed the console - they successfully loaded and played a homebrew CD game earlier in the stream.
