SEGA Genesis VS Super Nintendo

Ben Heck recently broke down the Sega Genesis and a Super Nintendo to scientifically prove which 16 Bit console was the best. Which console do you think was better?

Not having ever used either one or watched Ben's video, I went with the SEGA Genesis since it has a 68000 CPU. I have very fond memories of programming and writing compilers for the 68000. It's a very…

mcb1 , frankly it sounded clear to me that is a 16 bit with internal 32 bit architecture. Despite the wiki I remember this CPU. It was the "revolution" as I have used before the 6502 processor. Wiki says…

The Sega Genesis was a great console. With the 32X and Sega CD add ons, it was ahead of its time.

The game "Mortal Kombat" is a perfect example of how the Genesis was a better game console than the SNES. The blood code could only be preformed on the Genesis where as this was not possible on the SNES.

I owned both consoles. The SNES was cool, but the Genesis was my favorite. Then Sony  came in and destroyed all the competition (even though the Sega Dreamcast was a far superior console and GOAT.)

I preferred the Amiga - it didn't have the sales figures, but it had better performance and graphics.

The Sega always looked and felt really cheap, to me image all of their systems kinda have up to the Dream Cast. THAT one just had some...strange design choices. The thing about Sega is they make pretty solid arcade games, but a lot of their console titles during that time just really fell flat for me. It could just be because I had an SNES growing up, but my neighbors all had the Genesis and I never really felt any jealousy whenever I played it. Mostly just confusion. Plus since I work as a sound guy in the game industry, I have to be biased-- the SNES blew the Genesis out of the water hands down in that department image yeah, I know, its a matter of preference, but the FM synth music just didn't really do it for me, and kinda added to the cheapness factor...I think I just associated it with low-end MIDI hardware back then image Years later, I can definitely appreciate its place in music, but...eh. SNES still has my vote.

I think that the "16-bit" meant that it had 16-bit graphics and sound.

Genesis had some awesome games, but ChronoTrigger, FF6/3 were amazing.
