How to Use LoRaWAN to Launch Model Rockets Wirelessly -- Episode 606

Launching a model rocket can be as simple as connecting 2 wires to a drill battery, but it doesn't look cool, and you must be close to the rocket itself because of the wires. Instead of doing that, I made a rocket launch terminal in a rugged waterproof case which communicates with a small rocket launcher using LoRa. The rocket is ignited using supercapacitors so that the whole system can be powered using a small 9V battery!

A really useful circuit for charging those capacitors.

Just a thought on your connectors, if you do want to use them for different purposes then make them a different size and shape. Otherwise you might end up discharging your caps through your Comms port.

Nice project.  Way cooler than the wires we used to have to run - which were always getting tripped over or breaking.

Takes me back to the 1960's when I built and launched rockets.
