A lot of our videos contain custom PCBs, and those don‘t appear magically out of thin air. In this episode Clem takes you through every step of Custom PCB design and assembly! In a mere 20ish minutes you get a grasp of how much work is in that one building block of a project.

Good episode Clem. Building PCB's are a lot easier than they were in my day. We had to have all of the traces routed by hand. DAB

glad you like it, once you made the jump into pcbs you will getthe ideas. just start by recreating a simple desing you already have, maybe a breakout board for a chip. little projects add up to full blown…

I have deep respect for all the work that went into making pcbs by hand drwing and etching, so of course I also did it myself with a pen and etching. Knwoing where aprocess came from also helps understand…

It seemed to me thatpretty much appeared out of thin air. I kind of got you were grabbing parts out of the library. I thought this wasgoing to go thru the whole process.  Obviously a whole lot of steps have been skipped. I guess it actually ISN'T for beginners!

The process is EXACT as shown in the video. No steps have been left out. The only thing we did not go over was making fully custom Symbols and footprints as those would be an actual specialized dvanced topic, and not part of the general workflow.
It is exactly as shown, pick parts, draw schematic, draw pcb layout, check  for errors, order boards. With the new verson of KICAD 8 its even more streamlined (the video was done on 5 or 6).
As beacon_dave pointed out, there is a full completelly unabreviated version where you see me do it in real time. The only thing cut out is when towards the very end I had to reroute whole a section for size constraints as watching that again adds nothing but length to the video.
But the process in the short version is complete. If its to fast to follow for your taste, then you can pause and go back to rewatch segments at your convenience.
But to emphasize this: the video shows every step (was done on Kicad version 5/6), and it is meant for beginners with zero prior experience.
