No matter how many printed circuit boards you design, the first version of a board will always need to be tested and debugged. These four tips are from Bald Engineer’s experience of designing almost 100 PCBs. With these, you will track your board revisions easier, keep notes of individual boards, and make testing with a scope (or DMM) much faster.

I'm not sure if this tip has the same merit as yours but it has saved my bacon a few times. I identify polarity on the silk-screen, especially for power. I've been in poor light conditions trying to confirm polarity for a connection. The simple ++/-- give me reference.

0.079 " , or about 2mm diameter. Pin jacks or tip jacks are also 2mm, so it is a handy size.image

Off-hand, do you know how big you make those holes?

    Good tips - thanks

I sometimes add through hole test points that are just large enough to fit DVM test leads, especially for ground. This frees up a hand since the test lead plugs into the test point and stays there without being held.
