Arduino is celebrating its 15th Birthday on March 21st, 2020!  We'll be sending out 25 Nano Boards (5 different Flavors) for project proposals that use them!Project14 will celebrate its 3rd Birthday with a NanoRama Celebration that begins the day before Arduino Day!  Help us celebrate by submitting an Arduino Project as a Birthday Present!Winners Announcement will be on Geek Pride Day on May 25th 2020.  It also happens to be the anniversary of the release of the first Star Wars movie.  A New Hope was released on May 25th, 1977!

This special event celebrates the 3rd birthday of Project14 and the 15th birthday of Arduino with an Open Ended Arduino project competition that kicks off the day before Arduino Day on March 21st, 2020.   The NanoRama project competition is a follow up to  Arduino Day 2020: NanoRama: We're Giving Away Different Nano Boards for Projects that Use Them!   We also launched an Arduino Fundamentals: Part I: Quiz where you can test your knowledge (or argue over) your knowledge of Arduino.    We will also have a round ups of the last two Arduino project competitions to celebrate Arduino Day in what has turned into an annual tradition.

 

For Project14's birthday, you can do any project as long as its done around Arduino.  Any projects submitted for the NanoRama competition will receive a commemorative 2020 Arduino / Project14 badge and qualify for a grand prize of every Arduino Nano board and a $400 Shopping Cart.   Additionally, 3 first place winners will receive a $200 Shopping Cart and the popular Nano BLE Sense board.   Up to 20 Finishers will receive swag including an Arduino Nano (classic) board.image

 

While the Nano board is the featured board, you're free to use any Arduino or Arduino compatible board you like on a topic  of your choice.  This includes projects that use the Official board or IDE, a compatible board or shield, or an AVR dev board using a C or C++ compiler.

 

We've listed almost a 100 projects from the past couple of years, starting with Arduino projects from our first birthday celebration, to help give you ideas:

 

 

We're also aware that this is difficult time around the world, the Covid-19 Virus has upended life as we know it.

 

Your project can also include a Fighting Germs project as suggested in Project14 | Fighting Germs: Win a Thermal Imaging Camera, a Germicidal Lamp, and a Shopping Cart with Matching Charity Donation!

Stick to the Theme
  • You could come up with a clever name that make's your project memorable!
    • This project is your baby! Part of the fun of bringing something new into the world is coming up with a name.
  • Your project could introduce something new or that is not commercially available or affordable!
  • If you have an idea for a project that doesn't fit the current theme then submit your idea in the comments section of the monthly poll.
List the Steps
Submit Video Proof
  • Provide the steps you took to complete your project (text, video, or images).
    • This could be a step by step how-to-guide, vlog, schematics, coding, napkin drawings, voice narration, or whatever you think will be useful!
  • If it doesn't work that's fine, this is more about the journey than the end product.
  • A short video is all that is required but you can shoot as much video as you like.
  • You are encouraged to be creative and have as much fun as possible!

About Project14
Directions

Every month you'll have a new poll where you'll get to decide an upcoming project competition, based on your interests, that will take place a couple of months in advance. Themes are broad in scope so that everyone can participate regardless of skill set.

 

What are Monthly Themes?

  • Every month (around the 14th of each month) a new theme will be posted on Project14.
  • Submit your ideas (proposals) for your projects to get feedback from the rest of the community.
  • Submit a project entry in the Theme space once you start working on it.

 

What are Monthly Theme Polls?

  • Every month (around the 14th of each month) there is a project theme poll.
  • Vote on which project competition you want to see for the following upcoming theme.
    • The themes voted on during the previous poll decided the upcoming theme.
    • If you submit an idea for a theme that is not used then it can still be used in a future poll.
  • Themes comments and ideas from the comments section of the project theme poll.



Step 1: Log in or register on element14, it's easy and free.

Step 2: Post in the comments section below to begin a discussion on your idea. Videos, pictures and text are all welcomed forms of submission.

Step 3: Submit a blog post of your progress on your project by the end of the month.  You are free to submit as many blog entries as you like until the beginning of the next theme.

 

Be sure to include video proof of your project!
