About this Webinar

Learn how to make an internet connected plant water reminder system!

In this webinar, participants will be introduced to the affordable & easy-to-use LaunchPad™ development ecosystem from Texas Instruments. Through modular open source hardware, developers will be able to rapidly prototype their hardware designs. In addition, developers will be able to write application firmware quickly thanks to Energia MT – an open source, Arduino-compatible software framework, which introduces multi-tasking. This combines the ease of use of the Arduino/Wiring framework with industrial grade cooperative multi-tasking for running multiple sketches side-by-side.

Experience a live demo where the presenters will create a multi-point low power sub-1GHz wireless sensor network that is capable of monitoring multiple plant moisture levels. Several plants will be monitored & their readings will be sent to a centralized cloud connected gateway over sub-1GHz RF. The gateway will aggregate the sensor readings from each node & publish them to the cloud via Wi-Fi, effectively serving as a sub-1GHz RF-to-WiFi bridge. Once the sensor readings make it up to the cloud, we’ll be able to visualize the readings in a cloud-side dashboard, trigger SMS/Twitter alerts and more!

Finally, attendees will be exposed to the multiple layers required when building a complete end-to-end IoT application using the TI LaunchPad development kits & Energia open source software project.

About The Presenters

Robert Wessels // Energia open source founder

image

He holds B.S.E.E From the University of Enschede in the Netherlands. Robert founded the Energia project (http://energia.nu) in January of 2012 with the goal to bring the Wiring / Arduino language to the TI LaunchPad ecosystem. Through developing Energia for the LaunchPad ecosystem, Robert has made rapid prototyping with the LaunchPad ecosystem possible for Makers, hobbyists and professionals. In his role at Texas Instruments he is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the framework and growing the Energia community.

Adrian Fernandez // TI Microcontroller Developer Experience Manager

He holds a B.S.E.E from the University of Texas at Austin. In his role, he is responsible for defining the microcontroller development ecosystem and augmenting the ways developers interact and develop with TI microcontrollers. In recent years, Adrian has focused on the LaunchPad Evaluation Development Platform to create a low-cost, easy-to-use and friendly tool for enabling people of all experience levels to start making stuff with microcontrollers. Through developing the LaunchPad ecosystem, Adrian has had the pleasure of working and interacting with the online & maker community.

Live Giveaway

Don’t forget to attend the live session! At the end of the webinar we will release a URL where you will be able to answer a quick quiz and get the opportunity to win a TI MSP-EXP430FR6989 LaunchPad.
