Open Platforms Technologist/Evangelist (2008 - Present)
"I've been programming personal computers since 1979 and do so as a hobby. My focus in school and the first few years in industry was hardware design and signal processing. I worked on the first wave of MP3 player designs in 1998. I have trained and mentored the portable media development teams at TI in Houston and Bangalore, and led multiple software development efforts with these teams including media player connectivity and digital rights management. I'm currently defining strategy for growing our open platform ecosystem of developers and customer base.
Repetitive jobs can be enjoyable for me, since I can always find a way to use a machine to make them non-repetitive. My passion is to extend that capability to others, especially those who find computers inaccessible due to physical conditions or inexperience. My dream job would involve leading a small media company with friends and producing accessible content creation tools.
My heros are those who can most effectively use humor to improve the conditions of the people in the world around them.
Specialties: DSP, embedded system design, codecs, digital rights management and security, Linux and open source software."
