Struggling to learn--GEMS

AM preparing for the all-day GEMS camp where we will use and give away the microbits. Am terribly frustrated by software--can't find the block for IF-DO--and you can't do much without that!

 

Tried to make them work on tablets, but not having much luck there.

Does anyone know how to find/get this block in logic in MakeCode?

 

Note: three hours later ( I am determined) we are going to use MakeCode anyway--old computers don't have the bluetooth. Will just tough if out. I thik that maybe the code has changed.

I have four activities planned--the girls are very excited!

  • The if-then and if-then-else blocks are under the Logic functions...

    IF-Then is similar to If-DO

  • I don't understand what you mean by an IF-DO block.

     

    Do you mean a conditional, IF <something> THEN <do something> type construct? If so these are your options [they're called 'Logic' for some reason]

    Or do you mean a WHILE <something> DO <something> style loop, in which case these are your options

    If you're more used to using a traditional programming language and know Javascript, change to the Javascript view, write a bit of code and then swap back to the blocks and it will show you what the block equivalent is.
