Welcome back! Natasha here. :)
This is the eighth of 10 blog posts featuring each video in my series on animating LEDs with micro:bit and Make Code. If you've just stumbled upon this post, start from the beginning here.
Learn how to plan a NeoPixel project.
This video is a deep dive into creating projects with NeoPixel LEDs - what to buy, the different form factors that they come in, and how to put them together.
Watch it now:
In this video, I define what a NeoPixel is (a brand name of WS2812B or similar LEDs), then share some common properties of all NeoPixels, and how they are addressed.
Then, I share some tips for how to connect NeoPixels to microcontrollers and show a brief overview of how to solder NeoPixels to create your own custom pixel arrangements.
Next, I share examples of the many types of NeoPixel strips, waterproofing options, circuit board pixels, and NeoPixel strings.
And finally, I show many examples of great NeoPixel builds from across the Maker Community. When you have a moment, check out the builds by these makers:

What will you make?
I hope this video inspires you to build a project beyond the example Light-Up Helmet project. What ideas do you have?
