Road Test Publishing Woes

dougw
dougw over 4 years ago

In the past few days I have been having a bunch of problems publishing a road test. (Wurth Elektronik Sensor FeatherWing road test)

The first problem was it simply wouldn't upload the review. The "Post" button went gray and the little dots started cycling, but it just kept doing that forever, actually I gave up at 3:00 AM.

This review was just text - I was planning on adding in the video after it published.

The next day I rewrote the review and tried again, this time with an embedded video, which seemed to upload fine. However when I went to Post the review, it indicated that I was not permitted to upload a blog that was greater than 96 MB, so I deleted the video and posted the review.

Then I uploaded the video to a separate blog with no problems, but I cannot find the original review to edit or comment that the video is available elsewhere.

It seems I can no longer see or edit the review since it is already in review, whatever that means. I cannot find it on the forum.

I hate to disappoint the sponsors, but so far haven't been able to publish properly.

I suspect I could publish the review in a non-review area - maybe I will try that if the review really has disappeared.

Hold the phone... I think I just found it ... and I can even Post it. ...... trying to add in the video again....no luck 96 MB limit again.

Hm, okay so there's a functionality on the site admins such as myself can use called 'impersonate' where I can 'be' your account with your permissions and access. As you, I edited your roadtest review…

Dragging and dropping images was a viable option for embedding content on the old platform. I am continually reminded on this platform that using that method is not a good practice if you want it to work…

It should take only about 10 minutes. We may be seeing a problem here with video embedded into Roadtest Reviews in particular. Please have patience while I discuss this with the dev' team in America…

I edited and re-inserted the youtube video and it's now appeared, so this appears to be a permissions issue with regards to videos. The dev' team are still looking into it.

Yes, the other problem that was happening alongside it, is that there's a server automation in the background, that is meant to take care of this, and it was manually restarted about an hour ago and hadn…

Are you able to insert the video after you've posted the roadtest review?

No - when I add the short video, it still insists that the post is too big (bigger than 96 MB)

As you, I edited your roadtest review, and I was able to insert a video that was 30+ MB in size without an error message.

Which means you should be able to.

But the error message you received, was from the website.

What web browser and extensions are you using? Perhaps it's miscommunicating with the site?

The 13 min video is 320 MB

I uploaded it here without problems:

When I drag the video into the review it uploads it fine, as normal, and puts it into the review.

It is only when I finally try to post/publish the review that the system complains about the size.

I will try tonight, although it seems to upload and insert the video fine, just refuses to publish the review.

In the old system I uploaded to YouTube and embedded from that link. I don't think this works in the new system - When I try to embed from my YouTube channel, I just get a link not an embedded video.

It does work now, it was intermittently broken when we launched the site.

I tried the insert function tonight. It uploads the video okay and indicates it is processing the video. However that process did not complete (after a couple of hours). It had the same result as the drag-and-drop method when I tried to publish - I am not permitted to upload anything bigger than 96 MB to my "profile".

It doesn't sound nice but I am glad you have the problem. At least with the problem developers have something to look at. I had the same issue but it was ten days ago and doesn't exist today.

oooh... embedding from YouTube does seem to work now. It is still retrieving metadata but it did publish with a placeholder.
