We did some site maintenance

cstanton
cstanton over 2 years ago

As announced here:  Site Maintenance: 13th Jan 2023

Let me know here if you have any problems this weekend - since weekends are usually when we see the site go down the most.

Thanks for your patience.

Edit:

We're observing that there are regular problems approximately every 12 hours, such as at 9:30AM GMT each day the site is unresponsive. The development team and server admins are aware, fortunately the site comes back up without intervention, but we don't want it to happen at all.

Further edit:

Thanks to the fixes that went in on Friday, we've been able to identify what's contributing to the 12-hour frequency problems - the development team are implementing security measures to prevent it.

It's been well behaved for the past couple of days, which feels great. Really awesome work by the team.

Overall, the weekend saw much improved performance. Quite useable.

Well, I read a book - does that count? And I am just heading out to play softball in a dome. So far I've just seen the one temporary stall - significantly better than previous weekends.

Other than slow response times, the site has been okay for me today.  I also had a couple of incidents of error popups yesterday as dougw  reported.

Still noticing all the like counts for RoadTest Reviews older than about October 2021 are zeroed out, even though the view counts seem reasonable and comments are present. Is this still a "fix for later" thing cstanton ?

View counts were looked at to be fixed, I believe Like counts weren't a known issue. I've raised a dev' ticket.

I did flag this in this TM post - /members-area/top-members/f/forum/51935/v12-uograde-gone-well/201864

Hopefully this isn't a hard thing to fix

Hopefully, it's being investigated as to whether it's a reporting issue or related to the customisation of RoadTests at present.

    Hi Gough Lui ,

It appears simply that people may not have clicked 'like' on these posts, or it could be that the 'likes' weren't captured when people clicked on it.

Clicking 'like' on them appears to work now.

cstanton I was pretty sure they all had non-zero like counts in Jive and the older reviews were zeroed on migration. I don't necessarily dispute that adding a like to it now will work, but I'm pretty sure all my older reviews didn't have zero like counts (unless my memory is failing me).

Note how the view counts are approximately the same but the like count is practically zero or near zero for reviews before a given date that were migrated from Jive?

Unfortunately, I don't seem to have any record of the actual number of likes that were there as I never really paid much attention to them. There were some issues with RoadTest product pages that couldn't be liked (you'd like it, refresh the page and it'd be back at zero).

We have an archive of the Jive instance content I can check.

Unfortunately though, if it had likes on Jive those are unlikely to have migrated over to Verint, I've been working with the dev' team on mechanisms for converting content from type to type, and one of the nigh impossible things to do is to manipulate the like count on content, so these may now be lost, that won't stop me checking though.

Yes, that's 'a thing' that is a bug, I believe it's related to the issues we have with the jobs server, and we have some minor mitigations in place at present to reduce that problem occurring constantly.

Feels like we're almost getting there with something that works but keep finding the odd small thing that doesn't.

Thanks for following up on it cstanton  Slight smile

I didn't realise that I had no records of these things until you posted ... I guess I really took it for granted that everything would stay around, forever. I even tried checking archives on the Internet Archive but it seems that anything in the sidebar didn't get archived properly (let alone the crawls were few and far between).

Nevertheless, given we're so far post-migration, if it can't be restored, that's all fine. I just thought it might reflect better on the content and products, for the few sponsors and reviews that remain relevant after all this time. I completely understand if it's not possible to map it in any sensible manner.
