We did some site maintenance

cstanton
cstanton over 2 years ago

As announced here:  Site Maintenance: 13th Jan 2023

Let me know here if you have any problems this weekend - since weekends are usually when we see the site go down the most.

Thanks for your patience.

Edit:

We're observing that there are regular problems approximately every 12 hours, such as at 9:30AM GMT each day the site is unresponsive. The development team and server admins are aware, fortunately the site comes back up without intervention, but we don't want it to happen at all.

Further edit:

Thanks to the fixes that went in on Friday, we've been able to identify what's contributing to the 12-hour frequency problems - the development team are implementing security measures to prevent it.

It's been well behaved for the past couple of days, which feels great. Really awesome work by the team.

Overall, the weekend saw much improved performance. Quite useable.

Well, I read a book - does that count? And I am just heading out to play softball in a dome. So far I've just seen the one temporary stall - significantly better than previous weekends.

Site use today, for me, was decent.

I didn't get blue error popups, and overall reactiveness was good.

I had experiences similar to others, where the time between clicking a link in the notification popup, and getting the result served, was long (feels like a minute, but I didn't time).

I posted an involved article, with several images and multiple re-edits. That went smooth. The best xmas present I could wish for.

Site is much more reliable than it was two weaks ago when I was posting blogs as part of competitions. It was super pain. Now it is ok for me. I faced some long lags at the morning which was already mentioned in this thread but generaly I am satisfied now. Slight smile

Other than slow response times, the site has been okay for me today.  I also had a couple of incidents of error popups yesterday as dougw  reported.

I take that back - just had a Gateway timeout - in read, 21:41 GMT.

    Gateway Timeout

The proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server.

It is some rare error I think. It is very long since I have seen b62... error recently.

Still noticing all the like counts for RoadTest Reviews older than about October 2021 are zeroed out, even though the view counts seem reasonable and comments are present. Is this still a "fix for later" thing cstanton ?

View counts were looked at to be fixed, I believe Like counts weren't a known issue. I've raised a dev' ticket.
