    Victor

I sent an email along the same lines that Element14 should be concerned that only .0245% (based on 49 votes) of the membership could be bothered to vote, to Dave and Nicole.

Its Monday here at the bottom of the world, so I don't expect an answer from Dave, and Nicole is on maternity leave with reference to her manager (but no email address).

The sad part of this, is the community was vibrant and active before the upgrade, and now there are few questions being posted.

I am sure there were things that needed fixing, but this hasn't fixed anything, its made it more damaged.

I said there were many people deserving of a vote, and both of you have contributed so much in different ways.

Someone who has done more to point out the issues is Coder27, who for his troubles got banned, so what sort of message is that .... keep quiet or we'll do it for you.?

Whoever decides they should have it, you deserve it regardless of the actual number of votes.

I had the pleasure of exchanging a few messages with Coder27, and I couldn't decide whether it was a dry sense of humour or a negativity towards the community.

There is a fine line between pointing out issues and nagging. There was a point when the discussions board was flooded with raised issues, which pushed all other content into further pages. I would imagine this gave a poor impression to any new users who could have (and probably did in a few cases) turn about and exit.

    Paul

    You are probably right.

However a wise manager would have harnessed that energy and found a way to be able to use the feedback to rectify the issues.

If they wanted it to be less visible then inviting (and responding) to participate off line is an option.

Ignoring it in the hope it goes away sometimes works, and sometimes makes the situation worse.

As humans we are conditioned to expect a response, and as children we get wise to the type of response we can expect from the situation, and adjust the method of delivery to suit.

Your voting or abstinence is perfectly valid.

You make a good point. Members who showed an interest in fault-finding could have been invited to participate in beta testing and bug tracking. This could have happened 'offline' or in a separate ticketing/helpdesk system such as osTicket.

I for one would've been interested in participating.

We'd known for many months that there was an upgrade in the works, but as far as I know nobody was invited to help beta test it prior to release. Possibly a lot of the issues raised could have been resolved easily by doing that.
