I suggest using a catapult activated by a solenoid. Current will control the strength of the throw. The stop bar will give that extra kick

Just a schematic draft done in five minutes to represent the idea...

My son and I made a tennis pitch machine with a very different approach than shown in those videos. I don't know what you are throwing, but if its round, this video will show you how to make one that has…

Can you show me the detailed sketch bcoz shuttle is actually  a ball having a string to hold.

We have to hold the shuttle using string .https://photos.app.goo.gl/Tu6V5thQBR6LYyuk1

Me too I have serious doubts that the design work. Based on the video sounds and kind of movements and the two clue pipes it seems that this mechanism has nothing to do with a solenoid. It seems a sort of home made electro-pneumatic actuator.

Wanting to avoid electro-pneumatic, a spring will throw while a stepper motor will charge the spring, it is sufficiently precise to charge the spring reaching difference throwing force level to reach a wide target range.

Do you have any sketch or video so that I could understand better?

Are we controlling this with microcontroller?

I have a doubt that after releasing the spring will come to its initial position ,then how we can stretch it again at certain position?.

Is it possible to control speed of motion.

This is not the project this is the draft of the essential parts of the mechanism. The double gear is the trick image

Take a look on how Ratchet-Gears mechanism works ...
