Macro - The art of seeing clearly!

I'm sure many of us here are getting long enough in the tooth that we need to move PCBs and other parts away from you in order to focus on them.

Conversely or should I say perversely the world is intent in puting millions of components on boards that look like dust and writing that is in some

sub nano metre font. Connectors are little better at least when they are designed for humans, get the "robot only" ones then you are once again in the same senario.

My solution for this is simple, take photos, yes it is that simple image a good macro function on your compact or better still a macro lens on your DSLR and you can once

again see clearly.

Don't be a hero strugling with a crappy magnifier take a photo zoom it up as much as you need, it's also good as a memory aid or to add pizaz to your reviews or at least fill some space up when you are

finding it tough to fill the page ... Good luck.

I havent really had much luck with those "snake" cams but I've had plenty with my Lumix TZ20 which I use loads for this job.

I have it on a koenig KN17 tripod which is like £7 delivered from EBAY it's a bit crappy but at least it holds it vaguely in the right direction image

the photos are cool thanks for that personally I think they add a lot to the subject matter.

when you are having difficulty describing something in words do it in the form of a picture or diagram.

Also if you are complaining to some one say on Ebay  for some wrong or damaged part ..send a photo then there is no argument !

    Hi John,

I have good luck using one of the cheap neck scope cameras.  I got mine for about $99 USD and they come with a number of different heads so that you can push them into tight places.

I experimented with it over a PCB and found them very useful for reading IC codes.

    John is quite right.

This picture was taken to show the need to bend the header pins prior to insertion, as they are too wide for the header socket.

This was taken to show where to cut the trace to the smd LED since the silkscreening was slightly out.

There were several attempts made before final success.

I should have taken the photo before trying to cut it.!
