Unusual Circuit board configuation

I was busy salvaging a bunch of Dental electronic equipment for interesting parts when I came across this interesting circuit board construction and I thought you might get a kick out of it.

This is a driver circuit from a handheld LED composite cure light. It allows the operator to select a timer setting and drives a high power LED that has it's light output towards the blue end of the spectrum. The unit also controls a cooling fan the size of a dime to help cool the LED. In order to fit the needed components into a body witha diameter on the order of a broom handle they had to stack a set of circuit board disks 2.2 cm in diameter.  Pretty cool!

Interesting stack. We used to use this technique in the old days where we needed to keep circuits in cylindrical devices like missiles and rockets. I would say they expected quite a bit of vibration given…

Some of those PCBs are rather thick!

I had a feeling it was inside a housing, that had limited size.

hello John, how can you find the reliable PCB manufacture for this special design module

    Hi Camille

Because of the limited dental market I suspect that the manufacturer of these boards is a regular commercial board maker but I have no way to find out who it was. Since there is a lot of competition for their small lucrative market the dental equipment manufacturers are very close to the vest with any information about their products. While I can't answer your question these two posts will pull this thread to the top of the pile and perhaps one of the guys who previously contributed will have an answer for us as to which board manufacturers might have the technology to build boards like this.

It seems that Camille0103 has been de-activated ... primarily because it would appear that user was either a spambot or not really here for the community.

    Hi Mark,

That is strange. How does one determine the reason for a deactivation? I also had a contact request from Camille this morning. Is there anyone in the element 14 office this morning to do any deactivations or is it an automated process?  Just Curious.

I also had a contact request from Camille this morning.

Call me suspicious if you want, but the response from Camille to your post rang alarm bells with me.

Checking on the profile showed a couple of interactions, and both were similar in nature ... ie a comment but nothing really useful or helpful.

There was no authored content, which on it's own is not a problem, but coupled with the other aspects of this user, would suggest the system has picked it as not a valid user.

It may be that posts were attempted that caused the de-activation, and I'm aware that element14 did have issues with pcb suppliers some time ago.

I wouldn't let it worry you, and continue enjoying the holiday season.
